Liebster Award

I've been nominated for the Liebster Award by Lidy Wilks!

What is the Liebster Award? Don't worry, I had to ask too.

What is the Liebster Award?
The Liebster Award 2017 is an award that exists only on the internet and is given to bloggers by other bloggers. The earliest case of the award goes as far back as 2011. Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

That's a lot of wonderful words to live up to. I'm not sure I can handle the pressure!

My cat's giving me dirty looks, and I'm more afraid of her than I am of that list of words. So here goes. Lidy challenged me to answer three questions she came up with. Let's charge ahead.

1. Why did you start blogging?
A. I'm a writer who was looking ahead into the publishing world and realizing, "I need a platform." All writers have platforms!!! Worse, authors. *gulp* I decided to get a jump on the whole platform shtick and one of those methods of getting my face out there for people to get to know was blogging. It's definitely been my favorite of all the "expose yourself" socializing things.

2. Who do you admire and why?

My husband, definitely. He's my best friend and the one person I can always count on to have my back. He gets my crazy. He knows when I just REALLY need that nap or time to myself, or whatever it is and handles the house and the kids and dinner while I have that time.

I'm a lot better suited to the SAHM life, but I've been on the punch a time clock one, and let me tell you, I'm so glad I'm not doing THAT anymore. As weird as it sounds, I admire that he can get out of bed every morning and go to work, then come home and still be part of the family. He doesn't vanish into the downstairs or plunk in front of the TV. He's there with me and the kids and helping.

He supports me, whether it's I want to start attending the gym, or going on a diet, or write a book. Or even some of my ideas that make him shake his head. He'll help me garden, then can everything. I decide to do Christmas baskets and there he is making candles and sugar scrubs with me.

Even if I don't tell him every day, I hope he knows that I admire him. I admire a spouse who's interested in the others life and supports them. Who obviously enjoys being part of the family and participating.

3. If you were stranded on an island which fictional character would you choose for company?

2541295C. Oh, wow. So many good choices. When I think about being stranded on an island, I think in big picture terms. Stranded usually doesn't imply a choice, which means I didn't get to pack the perfect bag of stuff that'll be left with me, and I don't know when I'll get rescued. So as much fun as it'd be to pick someone who would be fun to hang out with or whatever, I'm going with survival.

I'd choose the character from my childhood favorite book. Karana is smart, resourceful, determined, and she knows how to live on an island with almost nothing to start off with.

Even with little trees to be found on a non-tropical island, she always found a way. I'd like to imagine the island I got stuck on has trees or is at least in the tropics. I can only imagine how we'd fare with more resources. And I know I probably won't die unless I do something really dumb or get bit by a mosquito with some horrid disease.

Now I get to nominate people and think up some questions for them!

So I'm going to choose.... *Looks around room*

  • Elise -Author, blogger of everything from books, to writing, to places she's seen!
  • Melion - Expert on pointy things, blogger with a humorous take on life.
  • M. T. - Book, movie, and TV show reviewer!
  • Kelsie - Author, SAHM, blogger with tips on writing and what she's learned from her journey.
Official Rules are posted here if you wish to accept your fate.

And your questions are:

  1. Since I got dumped on a deserted island, I'm calling you in for reinforcements. You get to parachute in with a bag containing five items. No evac time in sight, so what are your five items?
  2. How does your blog reflect you? In other words, what does what you say or how you say it say about you?
  3. You wake up tomorrow magically gifted with the ability to be an expert at ONE thing that is not related to your blogging content. (ex. No magic perfect books for the writers) What ability or hobby would you choose to be an expert at?
